Fly by fresher year; First year FCP Reflection.

First year has flown by so incredibly quickly; but when considering the places i have visited, things I've learnt and making Nottingham my new home, i feel that within this last year a lot has been achieved. But there is ALWAYS room for improvement & i need to improve!

In reflection on my Creative Networks module my strengths include strong layouts in content within my promotional plan, and attention to produce a cohesive brand identity, which corresponds in both the plan and portfolio. Very good documentation of research, in terms of the Harvard reference method was all correct, which i am especially pleased about, it might have been time consuming, but its define improvement from my fragrance advertising analysis referencing! Overall, expression is vey good, authoritative and convincing tone of voice.  The integration of evidence is very good, shows lots of potential, but if i were to expand on the use of my research in future would benefit my work; the quotes provided are very good, however, a few more would have helped me to strengthen my argument and pitch overall. Some of my own visuals that i created and edited were very strong, which is an area in which i like and feel my learning has developed over the year, which i feel has been positively recognised.

An area in which i could have improved was research into the consumer interview, more information, details on date time, and in depth detail into the participants would have supported my ideas.  When considering the layout i must continue to research and pay close attention to existing professional publications, including use of margins and fonts, in order to use them as inspiration and a guide to help raise the standard of your own layouts in future (for all artwork, incl. portfolio), making for a more sophisticated outcome overall. I know i personally need to be more consistent with my blog! When i post good quality content often i can keep upto date and onto of my work, but when i fail to do so i quickly slip behind!

Im order to improve consistency within my work, i want to go to the library in the evenings at least every other day, as i feel towards the end of the year once i created my own routine i found that i concentre and work more eeffectivily in the evenings. So avoid panicking near deadlines and include the library into my routine from the start of second year, as this is where i believe i create my best work and generally work well.

I am really excited to get back to Nottingham after working full time over the summer months, and getting stuck into second year. I am living with one of my course friends who i feel i work really well with, we often go to the library together and work on our independent work; we help each other, rather than distracting each other, so I'm looking forward to living with someone who has the same interests so we can hopefully inspire and express our thoughts and ideas constructively!   Attending various exhibitions has always been a keen interest so i will continue to keep unto date with whats on, but also explore Nottingham further, step further outside of the city centre and discover further opportunities.. (hopefully!)

In order to reach my goals in the future, i need to be consistent. Consistent with my work and following all my thoughts and ideas through.. don't let it just be an existing idea. Let it be an experience or an opportunity that i can make my own!
