Sunday Trench

I am back in the shire as of yesterday! Home for Christmas. Literally where has this first semester gone? It's been mental.

I caught up with Mummy Newton over some lunch today and we got our nails done, which is me trying to pretend that I'm not a student over this next month of christmas festivities! During the day we popped into a couple of shops in little old town Banbury. Parsons street is home to a fair few boutique stores in Banbury which are fab! Along with cute little restaurants and my absolute fav bar in Banners with the most divine interior, Also Known As (although I am abit biased as I used to love working there & the crazy arty couple that run the joint are also lovely friends!) giving that parsons street is good hotspot for weekend chilling. Not to mention the charity shops! It's full of them; you'll often find me scouting around for vintage treasures here! This week I spotted this long trench. The attention to detail on this piece is amazing, the old heritage brown buttons, tartan lining inside- which is also detachable matches the buttons holes perfectly too! A feature that I've never seen before, was a scarf thats pattern matched the lining and was draped over and through the shoulder loops of the trench which I loved!

Priced at a crazy £13.99 I was never going to say no. The fab thing with charity shops is that I never feel guilty buying things because i know the proceeds always go to a good cause. Although walking into any shop and buying twenty things instead of one really doesn't help my bank balance!

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend! With Love, DOAFSDO, x

Objects of Desire

The concept behind today brief is 'Object of Desire' now we could interpret this in anyway we wish. It could be an item we personally believe is desirable, or an item that has been presented as being derivable or juxtaposing the idea. Take it as we are and we had two days to come back with our own image considering this.. here are a few examples that i believe successfully adhere to this objective!

The narna is bloody great, the sparklier the better! I want 5 of these a day… PLEASE!

As a seminar class we all pinned our individual images on a line and analysising everyones work we were asked to pick our favourite image considering - Idea, Colour and Composition. Now thanks to my seminar class the girls voted that they liked my image the most for Idea which gave me a little encouragement. I explained that i have heard many recent stories in the news of young adults dying from drug use. Within todays society drugs are a things of desire, there is a consent need for something that is illegal, people will pay so much money for drugs and it makes me so sad that it has cost some people the most expensive price- life. Considering this concept i thought i would replace the 'idea' of drugs with something much more beautiful.. Glitter! As far as props go the bag was obviously from a spare button that came with my coat, my PINK driving licence and a £5 note of course because I'm a student and can't be balling with red ones these days...

With a little colour editing on photoshop this was my final 'Object of Desire' image!

You can never have too much glitter! With Love, DOAFSDO, x

Cartooney Looney Tooney Chaps!

It's come to my attention that anything remotely childlike and crazy fun printed on clothing i love! Firstly, I spotted Bobby Abley- whose SS13 collection was inspired by illustrations of birds and scenery from Snow White's animation. (He's a Menswear designer, but lets face it, we've all brought a mens garment in the past!) It was then the collaboration from Lazy Oaf X Looney Tunes. Now these bloody trousers! There great; i initially thought they were 'Looney Tunes', but there not! There a trouser covered in crazy cartoon motifs from an animation called 'The Jetsons'. The Jetsons was a american futuristic sitcom that was based in 2062; from the same makers as 'The Flintstones' the design was enough for me! They do not do me the world of justice, but there as comfy as you like! Purchased from one of my favourite little discoveries since being in Nottingham a shop called 'We Are COW' costing a staggering £18 it didn't take too much persuasion.. Opps.

Check out Bobby's work if you haven before; he secured a space in the SS13 MAN lineup that showcased upcoming exciting menswear designers and I've kept a close eye since!
