Andy Warhol X William Morris

Love is Enough draws together iconic and rarely seen works by two giants of the 19th and 20th centuries. This unconventional combination of artists’ work is curated by Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller who cites Morris and Warhol as his two greatest artistic influences. - Modern Art Oxford

Lovely day with this one in Oxford spending too much money and exploring and catching up! We are such bad influences on each other but we have a giggle, she is a very good egg! I love Nottingham but am so thankful to have such people at home that i miss very much. Im lucky i have people that make saying goodbye hard.

"Art is anything you can get away with"
- Andy Warhol

This was particular favourite of mine that i took a sneaky photo of. No Photography was allowed which is understandable considering there were millions dollar Warhol pieces and William Morris tapestry draping down the walls. But as an art student, on finding out there is no photography allowed within an exhibition its always been seen as a challenge. Who can get the best image without getting caught. From Venice, to Barcelona and Berlin, this has alway stuck with me, now I'm not on an art trip, this concept has stuck with me. Crazy art kids. Anyway, back to the image. Layers of echoed colour really define the outline of Warhol's face. One particular aspect of the image, that surprislingly i loved was how glitter was embossed into the teal coloured background. The more 'Pop' and 'Fun' the better. Big Fan.

I also had my first ever burrito today! Probably won't be my last..

Back exploring Notts!

What a beaut little weekend to be spent back in Nottingham. Catch ups and exploring places we haven't yet had time to do. Looking at perfume advertisements for our next module we were hunting down a few independent fashion magazines to add to the forever on growing collections. We visited 'Ideas on Paper' which is located in Cobden Cambers just off of the lace market. This was an adorable little hideaway and the first time I've visited IOP, the gentleman who owns the store was also really helpful and was happy for us to have a browse and flip through various magazines.

In Cobden Chambers the pastel painted walls were adorable, it felt like id just walked down a little side street in Salcombe or a shabby chic hideaway you'd find in Devon or Cornwall. I got Tara right in there matching with her pastel coat; what a colour palette!

Attention to detail even the bin was painted! This shirt is one of my favourtiest items at the moment, purchased from H&M in Times Square, New York, I'm happy i haven't spotted it in an English H&M store yet, but Shhh! It literally a chiffon black see through shirt that carries on so its super long and from the thigh down its divided into panels; feeling like some sort of superhero as it trails behind in the wind, its the comfiest chilled shirt ever!

"Don't let the bed bugs bite!'

People watching in the nicest little cafe in the Lace Market. Hartleys sells the worlds nicest smoothies, which made a super nice change from coffee, considering the amount i consume at Uni.

Finally, i am a little bit blonder! Long awaited but when i popped home during reading week i got my hair did, which has been long overdue. I am blonde again! Because its been done so well it looks really natural but I'm comparison to how dark the roots were it was much needed, a little bit of violet shampoo here and there to lighten it up will also work wonders- credit to Jess Cooper! :)

Happy Weekend. With Love, DOAFSDO, x

This last Semester..

Since arriving in Nottingham I feel like I've really settled in and it's only been a really short space of time! After studying in UCA i felt ridiculously disheartened that possibly University wasn't for me. But Nottingham has proved this wrong, i honestly Love the location, and i feel the course is perfect for me!
Coming upto hand in of our first Visual Awareness module, i have realised i actually quite enjoying spending time in the library with friends and socialising but also being constructive with my time. This is defiantly something i need to reinforce into future modules. But lets face it, the first few weeks.. okay.. maybe months, was a case of settling in, finding my feet, and getting to know the route to Ocean on a Wednesday.. Now i feel confident with where I'm living have a lovely bunch of motivational people around me i need to be more constructive with my time. Reading. Sketchbook work. Attending seminars even if i am a little worse for wear or Hungover. But on that note, I'm pretty proud efforts on hangover days.

SLEEPING. I think i need to sort out my sleeping pattern. I was in a great routine when i arrived back home for christmas, but then as soon as i came back to Nottingham i have been staying up till ridiculous o'clock! But on that note, i know how i work when it comes to inspiration. I always seem to get inspired late at night, and start to do work. So if this is the case i must accept that i work better at night time and consider this. I know its so typical of Uni students but maybe power naps are for me?! But first things first.. I'm going to try with plan a) to sort my sleeping pattern out, and if all else fails ill go with plan b) carry on working at didic time until i cannot physically work anymore and accept that fact that i will be having a power nap the following day!

Having coffee today with friends Tara & Mellie and reflecting on my time in Epsom then coming to Notts- I am so so happy things  happened when they did. Although things didn't turn out as initially planned, I know I am so much happier than I was back then and I'm so excited about my future in Notts! We have a house! I've met a wonderful bunch of people and my gosh this place is so much nicer and more inspiring than Epsom and the Boogie Lounge! Here's to the next semester, of disco dancing, creating and memory making!
