Flower Power

Following the Grid composition this is a mood board i produced looking at the era of hippys from late sixties into early seventies. Flower Power was the craze- popular festival Woodstock opened in 1969; it was all about sunflowers, floral pattern, peace, love and music! What an Era to be a part of. Whilst producing this mood board and exploring relevant images all i could think was that fact i was born in the wrong era! Shades of mustard and yellow seemed to be a really popular colour in this era of flower power, the brighter the better, i imagine! Paisley, crazy, floral patterns were a must, whilst wearing flowers in your hair and of course the perfect circle sunglasses whether this being Jon Lennon inspired or oversized circle sunnies. Music was a massive influence on the fashion at this particular time, listening to Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles and perhaps some one hits wonders, kids were prancing about to in festival fields filled with an array of colour and pattern!

Icons from the Era

Icons from this Era vary from guitar legend Jimi Hendrix, to Models of the time such as Farrah Fawcett and Lauren Hutton and of course not forgetting the beatles who left a gentle mark on the music scene from this generation, can you image the parties? Now where did i leave my time machine..

The legacy lives on!

One of the worlds most famous super club franchises Pacha, Ibiza, holds a night entitled 'Flower Power' every tuesday across the whole club. The atmosphere is unreal! It feels like you have actually stepped back into time. Love hearts, Peace signs, glitter bombs, the prettiest lights- you name it 70s and glittery, its there! Everyone make an effort and dresses up, which builds to the atmosphere and the whole night they play absolute classics from The Beatles to The Temptations and Marvin Gaye, all the iconic tracks from the era and everyone is getting crazy and Ballard singing together. It was something you MUST experience i believe if you missed out on this Era as although i missed it by a few generations, i believe this recreation is pretty somewhat close to the parties from that decade. I loved it! Is it time to get covered in glitter, dance crazy and sing Beatles Classics together again?!

With Love, DOAFSDO, x
